Success for Allegra® over-the-counter

With sales growing by 22.8%, the Consumer Healthcare platform performed strongly in 2011, largely thanks to the successful transfer of Allegra® to the over-the-counter market in the United States. With sales reaching €245 million, Allegra® is now Sanofi’s leading consumer healthcare product. A cornerstone of this success was the strategic acquisition of Chattem Inc, a veritable launching pad for consumer healthcare products.

In Europe, Sanofi is now focusing its efforts on five key market segments (colds and cough, pain, gastro-intestinal discomfort, allergies, vitamins and food supplements) and an internationalization strategy for strong brand-names.

In China, with the acquisition of BMP Sunstone and its market-leading brand Haowawa® (Good Baby) the Group has become one of the top-five multinational companies on the Chinese self-medication market.
